The Association for Unmanned Aviation (UAV DACH) is seeking comment for a survey on safe uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) operations.
“Illegally operated drones pose a potential risk to air traffic as well as sensitive public facilities, critical infrastructure and major events,” UAV DACH said. “In a joint working group, the German Aerospace Industries Association and UAV DACH are therefore committed to creating a suitable technological and regulatory framework to detect illegally operated UAS in a timely manner and to counter them in an emergency.”
Over the past few months, the experts of the associations’ Drone Detection and Countermeasures working group have developed concrete, practical recommendations for action to be presented to the German government, which could be incorporated into a national strategy for drone detection and countermeasures. “These recommendations outline the current state of the art and identify the resulting need for action,” UAV DACH said.
An important basis for this was an expert survey conducted a year ago. This survey has now been updated to incorporate the measures developed from it and, where necessary, refine them.
Companies, institutions and manufacturers of relevant technologies are invited to contribute to the updated survey to help provide policymakers with the most precise and fact-based recommendations possible. Responses are invited online until September 12, 2025.
