The Government of Odisha in India has announced the establishment of the National UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Test and Innovation Corridor at Rangeilunda. The facility is set to become the country’s first operational commercial airport repurposed as a live testing ground for drones.
BonV Aero will lead the development of the project. Last year, BonV Aero successfully conducted a beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight over 60 kilometres while carrying a 20kg payload.
The Rangeilunda corridor will provide an environment where drones can be tested in dynamic, low-altitude airspace (up to 1,000 metres). The project will be rolled out in phases and will focus on advanced aerial capabilities, including swarm testing, AI-driven navigation, autonomous airspace management and high-density drone operations. The corridor will also become a regulatory sandbox area for BVLOS operations.
