New trade body launches in the UK to support drone operators and startups

A new trade body working to represent and support professional drone users in the UK has officially launched today (December 5). Unmanned Support said it aims to “encourage regulatory excellence, unite industry professionals and drive the responsible growth of drone technology in the UK”.

The organisation has been established in response to calls from across the industry for an open and representative trade body aimed at small operators and startups. Unmanned Support will provide a voice for professionals, offer training and certification programmes, and work closely with regulators in an effort to ensure safe and effective drone operations.

“Professional drone users want a body that will provide effective communication with the regulator and related authorities,” said Unmanned Support founder, Graham Degg. “Operators need to understand the regulatory environment on a tactical and strategic level to plan training and investment. Unmanned Support has an emphasis on supporting current operators, working in the real world to put food on the table now.”

Members can receive a “full range of benefits” for GBP 50 per year, with a GBP 5 annual payment available for those who have not yet begun full operations.
