A man has pleaded guilty to flying a drone despite receiving formal direction from the Irish Aviation Authority (IA) not to do so. He also admitted to failing to cooperate with an IAA investigation by not attending a scheduled interview and not providing requested information.
The District Court directed Mr. Alan Brennan to make a EUR 400 charitable donation to the Little Flower Penny Dinners and to contribute EUR 750 towards the IAA’s legal costs.
Commenting on the outcome, IAA Inspector, David Hansell, emphasised the importance of compliance in maintaining public safety. “Aviation safety thrives on collaboration between operators, pilots, and the IAA. When we work together, we advance safety in our industry. When directions are ignored, that progress can be stalled. Choosing to cooperate ensures that the Irish drone community remains one of the safest and most forward-leaning in the world, moving together safely.”
