Innov’ATM reports in a Linkedin post it has just taken an important step forward in the Niu.link programme with a test flight campaign at Aeropuerto Lleida-Alguaire, carried out with partner Pirineos Drone, to validate in the field several key components of its U-space services: the deployment of the company’s U-SpaceTracker F200 antenna to detect drones and manned air traffic in and around the Lleida airspace; the verification of the continuity and reliability of communications between the C2 system and the antennas, as well as the real-time display of the drone on traffic information interface; and the testing of the company’s monitoring service to generate immediate alerts in case of corridor deviation, incursion into restricted areas, or excessive proximity to another drone.
Niu.link aims to establish the first cross-border biomedical transport services using drone technologies which have thus far been implemented exclusively at the national level, according to the project’s website. “The proposed services will benefit hospitals, health centers, laboratories, and residents of the Pyrenees , in areas affected by depopulation, who require an advanced biomedical transport solution. Examples of existing transport routes are being considered, such as between the Puigcerdà hospital, a leader in cross-border cooperation, and the Innovie laboratory in Saillagouse; or services from the La Seu d’Urgell hospital to the hospital in Andorra.
“The deployment of services and corridors is complemented by the development of an experimental vertiport at Lleida Airport , which will allow the integration of technologies for the corridors and attract industry to the sector.
“The consortium is led by Aeroports de Catalunya , manager of the airports of Lleida Alguaire, Andorra – La Seu and Cerdanya; companies with extensive experience in UAM technologies, such as PildoLabs and Innov’ATM ; drone operators currently providing services on a regular basis, such as Instradrone and Pirineos Drone ; and the universities of Barcelona, Lleida and the UOC to quantify the economic and social impact, develop cases for replicability and scalability, and carry out the business plan for these services.”
