Flytrex teams up with Uber, US deliveries expected by year-end

Uber Technologies, Inc. and Flytrex, Inc. have formed a strategic partnership, marking Uber’s first investment in drone delivery. Services are expected to begin with Uber Eats pilot markets in the United States by the end of the year.

In a September 18 press statement, Uber said it aims to build “the world’s most flexible multimodal delivery network”. Flytrex, one of four drone delivery providers authorised by the US Federal Aviation Administration for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations, will help Uber enable consumers to receive orders in minutes while reducing congestion and emissions.

To date, Flytrex has completed over 200,000 deliveries across the U.S. and operates with FAA-certified safety standards. Integrating Flytrex’s BVLOS-certified drones with the network of restaurants, merchants and consumers on the Uber platform, will provide last-mile logistics at scale.
