FAA grants nationwide BVLOS approval to Sunflower Labs

Sunflower Labs has received approval from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) across the country.

The approval for Sunflower Labs’ Beehive system enables customers to legally operate BVLOS flights, fly over people and vehicles and operate in low-visibility conditions without requiring case-by-case approval.

Sunflower Labs also announced the close of a USD16 million Series B round led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from Alarm.com, DRONE FUND, Gentian Investments, Wakestream Ventures, Atlas Ventures, and Daybreak Ventures. The investment will fund AI development, expand deployments in the US, Europe, and Latin America, and strengthen integrations with platforms like Alarm.com.

The company has also launched a new online tool that lets customers design and preview how the Beehive system would operate on their property.
