EUROCAE publishes MOPS for airborne collision avoidance systems

EUROCAE’s Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS) working group (WG-75) has published a new document on the minimal operational performance specifications (MOPS) for Airborne Collision Avoidance Systems (ACAS).

The document will be the successor of TCAS II and the MOPS will also contain provisions for ACAS designed for specific procedures such as close runway operations and provide requirements for a collision avoidance solution for unmanned aircraft. WG-75 will develop minimum aviation systems performance standards defining requirements for the interoperability of collision avoidance systems of different designs.

The MOPS document includes that manned rotorcraft to be equipped with collision avoidance systems. It aims at reducing the collision risk for rotorcraft in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace.

The proposed draft can be viewed on the EUROCAE Workspace and comments can be made by completing the form. Non-member of EUROCAE can register and click on “Access only to Open Consultation”.
