Gotonomi, Viasat and Videosoft Global have successfully completed a collaborative drone flight, demonstrating satellite-enabled communications and video streaming technology for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS).
The live trial highlighted how the three companies are safely enabling beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations with assured connectivity and real-time video transmission.
The demonstration combined Gotonomi’s lightweight, low power satellite terminals, Viasat’s secure Velaris L-Band network, and Videosoft Global’s industrial-grade video streaming technology. Gotonomi’s terminals operated on Viasat’s Velaris satellite network, a BVLOS communications service which enables UAS to safely integrate into commercial airspace. Videosoft Global’s real-time video streaming software was embedded on a Gotonomi Multilink terminal for visual reliability even in low-bandwidth or variable connectivity scenarios.
“By maintaining a clear and consistent video feed, operators and command teams gained the situational awareness needed to monitor assets, respond quickly to changing conditions, and make confident decisions in demanding environments,” Gotonomi said.
The flight trial was conducted on a UAS test platform developed by Aero Solutions, designed to allow technology providers to validate their products in real-world scenarios.
Viasat, Gotonomi, and Videosoft Global will present their technologies at the Barcelona Drone Days event next week.
