Aker Solutions has received certification for full beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone operations. The company provides autonomous inspection for offshore platforms, onshore yards, process plants and industrial sites. Systems are piloted remotely from an onshore control room located hundreds of kilometres away.
The certification enables Aker Solutions to conduct drone operations alongside manned helicopters and aircraft, and is agnostic to systems and products, enabling the company to use various platforms, vendors and technologies.
Earlier this year, Aker Solutions completed a BVLOS drone operation piloted from its control room in Stavanger, Norway.
