According to a Linkedin post from Umar Chughtai Founder and CEO of Norwegian U-space company AirDodge, the company has been approved by Civil Aviation Authority Norway for the first ever U-Space initiative in the Nordics.
“From 19 January to 17 April 2026, AirDodge will be officially responsible for managing approximately 24 km² of Norwegian airspace over Lommedalen, Bærum as a U-space Service Provider,” said the post. “All drones in this airspace will be using our traffic management services and all manned air traffic will be broadcasting their live position to us.
The company’s U-Space software services follow the framework outlined by (EU) 2021/664 and offers the four core services required to operate in U-Space directly through an android/iOS app called AirDodge Pilot:
- Remote drone identification – identifies any drone/operator by tagging the unique drone/operator ID and displaying the drones position, speed and heading on a map.
- Live air traffic information – displays the positions of all the live air traffic information on a map in real time to give drone pilots situational awareness.
- Geo-Zones – extensive map data showing where operators where they can and cannot fly, to make mission planning efficient and safer.
- Flight authorization – submitting a flight plan and get an instant authorization response from Air traffic control.
