Poland introduces new rules for flying UAS over national parks

Poland’s air navigation services agency (PANSA) has completed the process of updating the zones covering the area of 23 national parks, designating precise zone boundaries, and defining areas where drones can fly without permission, and those where permission is required.

In most cases, clarification of the boundaries meant the area of the zone could be reduced, enabling flights in areas previously inaccessible to drones.

Descriptions of all zones above the 23 national parks have also been verified and updated. Current contacts to zone managers have been added, and some descriptions have been provided with links to park websites with dedicated information for drone operators (such as the case with Karkonoski National Park).

In popular tourist locations, instead of one zone over the entire park area, multiple zones with varying probabilities of obtaining a permit for operations have been introduced. For example, in Tatra National Park, new zones have appeared where operators can obtain a flight permit.
