Medical delivery test flights underway in Michigan

Flights commenced on May 8 for the medical delivery project in Traverse City, Michigan using uncrewed aerial systems. Operating within a three-to-four-mile radius of Munson Medical Center, the project will test functionality and progress towards delivering medical supplies and records. The goal is to expand the operating radius to 20 miles, beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS).

The project is a partnership between Traverse Connect, Munson Healthcare, DroneUp, blueflite, and Central Michigan University’s Rural Health Equity Institute. It is supported by a grant from the Advanced Aerial Mobility Activation Fund.

Test flights will continue until May 22 between Munson Medical Center, Copper Ridge Surgery Center, and the Munson Dialysis Center.
