Counter-UAS system providers have until 19 December 2025 to respond to a Call for Participation in the COURAGEOUS Athens Pilot (9–13 March 2026), according to a Linkedin post from Geert De Cubber, Team Leader of the Robotics & Autonomous Systems Research Unit at the Royal Military Academy in Belgium and Project Coordinator of EU projects COURAGEOUS and ORIGAMI.
“Project COURAGEOUS invites Counter-UAS technology providers to express their interest in participating in the upcoming pilot exercise in Athens, Greece, focused on airport protection under realistic operational and environmental conditions,” runs the post. “Funded by the European Union, COURAGEOUS develops standardised, repeatable methodologies for testing and benchmarking C-UAS systems. This pilot builds upon the outcomes of the original COURAGEOUS project and aims to bring transparency and comparability to the C-UAS evaluation process.”
“Pilot highlights:
• Location: Suburban civil airport with ATC coordination
• Conditions: Low-light, rainy, RF-dense, medium bird presence
• Threat UAV: Low-RCS fixed-wing & rotary-wing drones, GPS+INS navigation
• Strict safety and legal framework, including neutralisation controls
“Participation includes
• Real-world testing opportunity with live UAVs
• Get to know the future standard methods for assessing Counter-UAS system performance
• On-site logistics and technical support
• Reimbursement of travel and accommodation for two representatives
• Use of the COURAGEOUS standard data format and reporting templates
