FAA launches 12 Days of Drones campaign 2024 to encourage safe operations

This December, the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is again running its 12 Days of Drones campaign to educate people about the rules, regulations and best practices of operating a drone.  

Starting from December 9, the agency will share important drone-safety information and resources that will help future pilots – including those who may be receiving a drone as a Christmas gift – stay up to date with the latest rules. The FAA will post all of the campaign’s safety messages on its FAADroneZone social media accounts throughout the month.  

The campaign runs on weekdays until ecember 24 with each day dedicated to a specific drone safety topic. 

  • Day 1 (Dec 9): The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST)  
  • Day 2 (Dec 10): Register and mark your drone 
  • Day 3 (Dec 11): Remote ID 
  • Day 4 (Dec 12): Become a certificated remote pilot  
  • Day 5 (Dec 13): Where can I fly? 
  • Day 6 (Dec 16): Airspace authorizations – LAANC 
  • Day 7 (Dec 17): “Weather” or not to fly 
  • Day 8 (Dec 18): Flying at night 
  • Day 9 (Dec 19): Drones for everyone 
  • Day 10 (Dec 20): Flying over people 
  • Day 11 (Dec 23): Drones and careers 
  • Day 12 (Dec 24): Drones for good
