DroneLand has launched a mobile drone deployment unit built around the new DJI Dock 3. The Pick-Hub enables automated drone operations without the need for fixed infrastructure or an on-site pilot.
The unit contains two DJI Dock 3 systems, each housing a Matrice 4D or 4TD capable of launching autonomously within 15 seconds. Once the vehicle-mounted unit is on location, it can be ready for operation within minutes. For visual line of sight (VLOS) operations, a local driver or field technician can accompany the unit and maintain visual contact with the drone during flight or intervene if necessary, even if the drone operator remains at a remote command centre. DroneLand says this hybrid approach helps missions remain compliant with current legislation, even when the pilot isn’t physically present at the deployment site, and could enable more flexible, scalable drone operations as a single operator can control flights across different locations throughout the day, while the Pick-Hub is transported from site to site.
The new system was demonstrated at DronePort in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. Attendees witnessed how the Pick-Hub is able to execute take-off, flight, and landing, all remotely controlled through DJI FlightHub 2.
The system, which is available for purchase or rent, is suitable for use in infrastructure inspections, emergency response, event security, agriculture and construction monitoring.
