US Army issues sources sought notice for hand-held C-UAS

The United States Army is conducting preliminary market research to assess market availability of vendors who are able to provide a counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) to the 110th Wing, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base in Michigan. The Army says this is anticipated to result in a firm, fixed price contract.

According to the Army’s sources sought notice, the system must be “an integrated, man-portable solution that allows a single operator to detect, track, identify and mitigate small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), specifically Groups 1 and 2.” The system should be capable of defeating both single drones and swarms.

The counter-UAS system should be able to be operated by a single person while continuously moving on foot through rugged ground terrain with a fire-team or squad of ground combat operators. The drone gun portion of the system must be able to disrupt signals on RF frequencies as well as drones being controlled by GPS satellite frequencies. The notice says that the preferred solution will be “able to detect, identify, track and mitigate drones being controlled by a threat operator and autonomous drones that have been preprogrammed to navigate themselves from and to predetermined locations and do not have an adversary operator on the ground.”

The requirement is for two handheld drone gun systems and an on-site training package for up to 10 members.

Responses are due by March 26, 2026.
