The US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command is seeking counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) equipment to protect contingency response (CR) forces.
“AMC must make immediate investments in C-UAS equipment for CR forces,” the Air Force said in a notice posted on the US government procurement portal SAM.gov. “As ‘first-in’ forces providing the Open the Airbase Force Element, CR requires a capability to combat adversary drones that threaten mission, personnel and infrastructure. While long-term enterprise solutions are being analysed with Rapidly Deployable Small Uncrewed Aircraft Defense System (RD-SUADS), the 621st and 821st Contingency Response Groups identified interim solutions to bridge capability gaps while advancing command level initiatives.”
The solicitation notes that the C-UAS equipment required must be compact, lightweight and man-portable to allow flexibility for moving threats. The equipment must detect Group 1 and 2 UAS and defeat Group 1 UAS with or without payloads to a 5 km range and beyond. The equipment will have the capability to detect, jam and spoof UAS threats to the airfield.
The acquisition is being solicited as a total small business set aside.
