Origin Robotics has signed a contract with Belgium for the delivery of the company’s BLAZE interceptor drones. Launched in May 2025, BLAZE is a man-portable system that combines radar-based detection with AI-powered computer vision to deliver airburst fragmentation.
This agreement was announced during the official visit of Belgian Minister of Defence Theo Francken and Latvian Minister of Defence Andris Spruds. The contract is intended to restore immediate operational resilience while the Belgian Ministry of Defence prepares a longer-term investment plan.
Both Belgium and Latvia have reported an increase in unauthorised drone activity in recent months. At the end of October, Francken announced plans for a EUR 50 million investment for drone defence. In addition to purchasing counter-drone and detection systems, the plan involves introducing a standardised way of reporting a drone or locating pilots.
