MyDefence has today announced the launch of its WideBand eXtended Frequency (XF) Antenna, a powerful new tool enabling dismounted troops, counter-terrorism teams, border security personnel, and police forces to detect remotely controlled drones across the wide spectrum – a capability increasingly critical in both conflict zones and homeland security missions.
“The new antenna expands detection to cover frequencies from 200 MHz up to 6 GHz continuously,” said the company in a press release. “This development comes directly from operational lessons learned: with more than 2000 Wingman units already deployed in Ukraine, frontline soldiers have identified the urgent need to detect drones operating outside traditional commercial frequency bands, also called ISM bands. Adversaries are increasingly shifting to lower frequencies to evade detection and jamming, while also exploiting higher bands for video, command, control, and data links. The WideBand XF Antenna closes this gap, ensuring operators maintain full-spectrum vigilance.
The WideBand XF Antenna is purpose-built for field deployment. “Fully compatible with the Wingman wearable drone detector, the XF Antenna integrates seamlessly with the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK). It delivers real-time alerts and a live tactical picture to operators,” said the company press release. “The system also functions as a spectrum analyzer. The spectrum analyzer enables operators to visualize, identify, and track wireless signals across a wide frequency range, including those emitted by drones and other wireless-enabled equipment.”
