The Laser Shield Anti-Drone (LSAD) system from Laser Photonics Corporation and partner Fonon Technologies (FTI) has been selected as a finalist in the counter-uncrewed aerial systems area of interest under the United States’ Autonomy, AI and Cyber Critical Technology Challenge. FTI will present the development stage technology during the Defense TechConect Innovation Summit and Expo from November 19-21, 2025.
The LSAD system offers precision laser targeting capabilities designed to protect military bases, critical infrastructure facilities, and frontline personnel and equipment. Building on earlier proof-of-concept success, the LSAD has now successfully neutralised an active drone during short-range field tests. Extended range trials at a certified counter-drone testing facility are planned for the next step.
