Kongsberg and PGZ to provide C-UAS systems to Poland

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and consortium partner Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) have signed a contract with the Polish Armaments Agency for the delivery of counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) for its SAN CUAS programme.

The contract, which is worth about NOK 16 billion to Kongsberg, entails the delivery of 18 C-UAS batteries. The batteries will include a variety of effectors, including 35 mm, 30 mm, 12.7 mm guns, as well as missiles and interceptor drones and other means to counter aerial threats.

PGZ subcontractor Advanced Protection Systems’ (APS) tailored command and control architecture will combine these sensors and effectors to create the SAN CUAS, fully integrated with Polish national air defence capabilities.

As part of the deliveries, Kongsberg is preparing to invest in increasing its manufacturing capacity and capabilities in Poland.

The system is based on Kongsberg’s PROTECTOR family of weapon systems: the Medium Caliber Turret (MCT30) and Remote Weapon Station. For the SAN programme, the RWS primary weapon will be the 70mm guided missiles. Kongsberg said in its January 30 press release that it will work closely with APS and PGZ “to field flexible sensor and effector integration platforms for sub-system and vehicle integrations enabling distributed sensor and effector operations”.

The 2026 Unmanned Airspace Global Counter-UAS Systems Directory is now available. The Guide is the world’s only comprehensive, continually updated directory of global C-UAS companies and systems. It itemises over 1,000 C-UAS products and services with performance details, company sales and partnerships arrangements. It is updated every month and broken down into niche sub-sectors (net-capture, missiles, intercept drones, detectors etc) to give C-UAS procurement and industry personnel a unique perspective of global C-UAS technical capabilities and market positions. It is available in word, PDF and excel formats and Unmanned Airspace readers are eligible for a range of discounts.
