Jugapro of India has developed a new counter-drone system to address the threat posed by small drones. The Skyner M5K features Trueview R40i active electronically scanned array radar panels, which offer 360-degree coverage for real-time surveillance at ranges in excess of 40km.
Jugapro says the system is suitable across diverse terrains, from urban environments to remote borders and for applications such as safeguarding critical infrastructure, such as airports.
The product launch has been covered in Indian defence media with Indian Defence News reporting that the system “addresses the escalating proliferation of low-cost, swarming drones used in asymmetric warfare”.
Skyner M5K includes a smart jammer module, which deploys adaptive electronic warfare tactics designed to disrupt drone communications, GPS signals and control links without collateral interference. It incorporates AI-driven algorithms that analyse drone signatures rapidly, selecting optimal frequencies for denial-of-service attacks.
The system also has spoofing and geofencing capabilities, according to media reports.
Field trials have demonstrated the system’s efficacy against Group 1 and Group 2 drones, achieving interception rates above 95 per cent.
Indian Defence News reports that production scaling is underway, with partnerships involving Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for mass manufacturing and quality assurance.
