Ireland “will be C-UAS-ready for EU presidency”

Counter-drone technology will be in place before Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, reports Irish news source Extra.

The article quotes Defence Minister Helen McEntee as being “absolutely certain” that the technology would be in place. McEntree’s comments come as critics say the Department of Defence’s new implementation plan highlights timeline concerns.

The implementation plan prioritises a new radar capability among other comprehensive measures. It follows the department’s announcement for EUR 1.7 billion for national defence. This includes EUR 19 million accelerated investment in Counter-drone systems ahead of Ireland’s 2026 EU Council Presidency.
