The German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support has commissioned HENSOLDT to enhance the functional capabilities of the ASUL defence system against uncrewed aircraft systems.
The modular counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) with a scalable sensor-effector mix of active and passive radar systems, electro-optical sensors and a range of countermeasures can detect, classify and identify small UAS in real time, then defeat them.
ASUL was developed by HENSOLDT subsidiary ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH and handed over to the German Armed Forces in 2022, where it has been successfully deployed in various scenarios. HENSOLDT will now expand ASUL in a targeted manner to deliver the capability enhancements required.
