D-Fend Solutions supported public safety operations during the Rock the Runway open-air concert and festival, held recently at London International Airport in Southwestern Ontario. The event drew over 25,000 attendees, requiring full airspace security in a highly complex environment.
Working with Jones Entertainment Group, London Police Service and the London International Airport Authority, D-Fend Solutions deployed its EnforceAir2 counter-drone system, which provided real-time detection of unauthorised drone activity, without jamming or kinetic engagement. The EnforceAir2 system uses RF-cyber takeover technology.
Multiple drones were detected operating within 3km of the venue, including one unauthorised drone launched from within the event perimeter. Security personnel were immediately dispatched to address the incident as a result of the early warning provided by EnforceAir2 and airspace security was maintained throughout the festival.
D-Fend said on April 6 that despite a high-density RF environment with thousands of devices, the system delivered interference-free performance, fully integrated with the London Police Service Operations Centre and Air Traffic Control for a coordinated, real-time response.
The EnforceAir2 system was also deployed to support airspace security operations during the recent 55th Annual JUNO Awards in Hamilton, Ontario. Held at TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario on March 29, 2026, the JUNO Awards hosted approximately 19,000 attendees inside the venue, with several thousand more in surrounding areas.
As part of a joint unit, D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir2 system was integrated directly into the Hamilton Police Emergency Operations Centre and provided a common operational picture with real-time airspace awareness. The system supported Hamilton Police drone operations by detecting, locating and identifying any possible unauthorised or potentially malicious drones, and could distinguish between authorised and unauthorised drones in real time with automated identification, while also enabling coordinated response efforts.
“Police Services across Ontario are evaluating advanced counter-drone technology for securing large-scale public events, including concerts, sporting events and other mass gatherings,” D-Fend said. “This illustrates the growing demand among public safety agencies for non-disruptive solutions that ensure operational continuity while addressing evolving aerial threats.”
