Chennai-based Big Bang Boom Solutions (BBBS) has announced the delivery of the first of its Vajra Sentinel counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) to the Indian Air Force. The delivery directly supports India’s Operation Sindoor along its border with Pakistan.
“We have crossed numerous milestones, early design challenges, user trials, contracting, negotiations, rugged re-design, supply chain management, rigorous Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) testing, which itself included vendor vetting, ESS, EMI/EMC, pre-qualification and numerous other steps before the system was subjected to a pre dispatch inspection with officials from the Indian Airforce, the Indian Army, DGAQA and DGQA,” BBBS said in a LinkedIn post.
Varja Sentinel is designed to detect, track, and neutralise drones at range. It uses passive RF sensor technology to avoid false alarms and features a sensor/jammer combination. The system’s core sensor is built around AI and computer vision algorithms.
