Airwayz demonstrates its port UTM system at Ashdod in Israel

Airwayz has demonstrated its UTM drone management proof-of-concept (POC), developed at Rotterdam port, at Ashdod port in Israel.

“At Ashdod Port Company, we demonstrated how our Autonomous Tactical Airspace Command & Control System provides complete, integrated protection for critical port infrastructure,” said the company in a Linkedin post. “This AI-driven autonomous “control tower” manages and secures the entire aerial dimension — instantly launching drones, detecting and tracking threats, integrating with drone detection systems, and coordinating safely with sea and land systems. The result: unified real-time awareness, faster response, and stronger protection for every layer of port operations — air, sea, and ground.”

The autonomous Command & Control platform approves and prioritizes drone flights in real time; prevents conflicts between drones, cranes, and vessels; monitors deviations and detects unauthorized drones; defining where drones can and cannot fly — keeping them clear of sensitive or restricted areas; and maintains situational awareness of every drone in the sky.

“As part of the POC, multiple operational scenarios were carried out – covering security and surveillance, safety operations, preventive maintenance, and logistics delivery,” said Airwayz. “All missions were executed using autonomous drones, advanced AI-driven systems, and integrated drone detection systems, all working together in real time to manage the port’s airspace.”

Airwayz partners in the project include Propeller Drones (for drone operations), Sentrycs (counter drone), FlightOps.io (autonomous flight management) and Dynamic Infrastructure (AI-based asset inspection).
