HHLA Sky has joined the RADIKAL project that integrates radar, camera and artificial intelligence to enable drones to detect and avoid obstacles in real time, both in-flight and during landing.
“In collaboration with the Ruhr University Bochum, it-objects, and Fraunhofer FHR, we will introduce and trial these new sensors and algorithms in logistic drones like the X25,” the company said on August 12.
The RADIKAL project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Among other projects, HHLA Sky is also part of the Hamburg-based BLU-Space initiative to create the first EU-wide test U-Space airspace for an uncrewed traffic management system (UTM).
