Defence Blog reports that the Netherlands Ministry of Defence plans to acquire 22 mobile counter-drone cannon systems from Rheinmetall.
The Skyranger 30 uses radars, cameras, and lasers for target acquisition and tracking. The primary weapon is a 30mm rapid-fire cannon, capable of firing up to 1,250 rounds per minute against drones, aircraft, and helicopters. Additionally, the system includes surface-to-air missiles for engaging targets at longer ranges.
According to the report, the Skyranger 30 will be mounted on German-made Armoured Combat Support Vehicles (ACSV) from Flensburger Fahrzeugbau. The systems will be assigned to the Defense Ground-Based Air Defense Command.
Rheinmetall has previously announced contracts for Skyranger from Germany, Austria, Hungary and Denmark.
