NATO approves sense and avoid standard for UAS operations

UAS Vision (https://www.uasvision.com/2018/03/08/nato-uas-sense-and-avoid-standard-announcement/) reports that NATO has approved its first standard for UAS Sense and Avoid: “Guidance on Sense and Avoid for Unmanned Aircraft Systems”, STANREC 4811/AEP-101. “The aim of this NATO standard is to provide recommended practices regarding the development of sense and avoid systems that will enable the operation of unmanned aircraft systems in non-segregated airspace and across borders,” said the news service. “This document can be accessed for free from the NATO Standardization Document Database here along with other publicly available NATO UAS standards; the direct link to the standard is here... Based on this foundational standard, NATO is initiating the development of a UAS SAA performance based standard.”
